Billing Procedures:

BWD bills all customers on a quarterly basis, with the exception of our commercial accounts, which are billed monthly. All bills are due when the bill is received, but a bill is not considered late until 25 days after the bill is sent. More information about billing can be viewed in BWD's Terms and Conditions, which are regulated by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

In addition to water billing, BWD processes sewer billing for the City of Bath. Sewer bills are also sent quarterly to the City's sewer customers. One payment can be made to Bath Water District to pay for water and sewer bills together. We now accept both Master Card and Visa at the office, and can also take payments over the phone. In addition, some local banks will do a direct withdrawal from your bank account for water and sewer bills. You can find out more about this option by calling your banking institution.

Meter Changeouts:

The BWD regularly tests all residential water meters every 7 years to ensure their accuracy.  Testing meters is required by the Maine Public Utilities Commission and is considered a necessary maintenance practice.

Each winter, we contact different customers so our meters can be removed and tested.  When one of our technicians comes the meter is replaced with a tested one.   The entire process takes less than 15 minutes if your meter is easily accessible.
